SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE

The Events Manager will play a lead role in planning and executing the strategy and delivery for MPA Events, from corporate lunches and seminars to industry exhibitions and awards dinners.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate events specialist to deliver and support a programme of industry events - both physical and virtual - within the MPA. As a centralised role, this position will be pivotal in the success of events aimed at both the designer/specifier audiences and broader MPA stakeholders and  members.

 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Support, develop and execute high quality events as part of the MPA events calendar and to streamline a centralised process. To be responsible for the overall MPA events calendar and oversee events.
  • To manage events such that they achieve key performance indicators, based on cost, income, attendance, quality etc. and meet the objectives of the MPA.
  • To liaise with product group and membership teams and assist with the marketing and promotion of  events for maximum impact and attendance for the organisation and provide a quality service for delegates.
  • Responsible for online training provided by MPA, to include full knowledge of event software, payment processes and delegate communications.
  • Create and manage budgets, negotiate contracts, and monitor expenses to ensure cost-effective event planning. 
  • Oversee event logistics, including venue selection, travel arrangements, accommodation, catering, audiovisual equipment, and other event-related requirements.
  • Where appropriate, to assist in the preparation of text and manage the development of print and online advertising, e-coms, website, PR and social media, required to support event activity. 
  • Coordinate with the event and communications teams to develop event branding, promotional materials, and pre- and post-event communications.
  • Conduct post-event evaluation and analysis to measure event success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, best practice, and emerging technologies to enhance event experiences and outcomes, particularly in regard to virtual events.
  • Liaise with external agencies and media for the delivery of projects. 
  • Liaise with colleagues and members of the project team to ensure effective delivery.
  • Assist the management team in event-related issues as they arise.
  • If required, other duties to support the organisation may be requested.
 
DIMENSIONS/TERRITORY/SCOPE OF ROLE

The scope of the role is assigned/agreed via annual objectives and regular project meetings.

 
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE JOB
  • Have direct experience in event management and marketing promotion for events and training. This should include running events independently and/or with support of a team, depending on the scale.
  • Ability to travel to event locations independently. MPA Events are held nation-wide, although predominantly in London and the Midlands .
  • Current driving licence desirable.
  • Have experience working with a range of communication channels including online and email marketing.
  • Have an understanding of e-communications and digital marketing and how they can enhance event marketing and training delivery.
  • Be a confident, self-motivated project manager and communicator.
  • Have experience dealing with senior management and successfully managing meetings that elicit direct response, feedback and/or direction.
  • Have experience dealing with external agencies and media to ensure clear understanding of market strategy.
  • Think strategically and work well in a multi-disciplined team.
  • Have excellent copywriting and sub-editing skills across all media.
  • Have strong administration skills with a sound knowledge of Office 365,
  • Sharepoint/Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word and desirably knowledge of a contact database system. 
  • Have an eye for detail and the ability to work under pressure, managing several projects at once and ensuring deadlines are met within budget.
  • Have strong administrative and coordination skills with great attention to detail.
