MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To lead and support the licence to operate and market for concrete in the UK. Thereby maintaining and/or growing market share, delivering member value and responding to demand-side drivers. 

 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Provide strategic direction as to how the concrete sector can respond to demand-side drivers, to ensure the competitiveness of concrete in the built environment.
  • Be a visible leader of concrete in the MPA, in sector groups such as the Construction Leadership Council, Construction Products Association, professional institutions and similar built environment sector initiatives.
  • Leading and directing the teams supporting concrete products groups, including:  Ready-Mixed Concrete; Precast Concrete; Masonry; and Mortar.
  • Leading and directing the teams supporting UK Concrete, particularly promoting sustainable construction and the credentials of the sector.
  • Leading and directing the teams supporting The Concrete Centre, including: promoting architectural and building performance; providing guidance on technical and structural design and delivering activity to enable the specification of sustainable concrete. 
  • Leading and directing campaigns to promote concrete and delivering member and stakeholder engagement.
  • Creating and managing budgets that support the delivery of planned activity within scope.
  • Playing an active role within the MPA executive team to support delivery of the MPA’s strategy and aims. 
  • Provide support to MPA Scotland and MPA NI in accordance with SLAs.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE
  • Educated to degree level, preferably with a relevant professional qualification in a built environment related discipline.
  • Experience of operating at a senior level within the construction or concrete manufacturing sectors.
  • Experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams within matrix organizational structures.
  • Experience of managing change with the ability to balance operational and strategic drivers in order to deliver agreed outcomes. 
  • Possess demonstrable relationship building skills with a wide range of stakeholders and the ability to maintain good personal networks at a senior level, particularly in relevant markets. 
  • Experience of some not for profit activity in the sector, either as part of an initiative,  committee, or professional institution.
  • Be able to represent the concrete sector at a senior level to Government, industry and on national/international committees.
  • Experience of creating and managing budgets and managing resources to deliver both business as usual and project activity.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a diverse and geographically dispersed team. 
  • Be able to demonstrate good IT literacy including possessing a sound knowledge of the Microsoft365 Apps e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, Sharepoint, One Drive.
