Quarries & Nature 2021 - 13 October 2021 - Industry showcases its contribution to nature and biodiversity

MPA’s Quarries & Nature 2021 will take the form of an hour long online showcase of the great work that the industry has delivered over the last 50 years, celebrating the scale and diversity of the restoration, biodiversity and conservation work undertaken by members. Attendance is free of charge and is open to anyone in the industry plus their professional contacts and networks.

Materials producers supply record volumes in 2021

Delivered volumes of heavyside mineral products broke records in the second quarter of 2021 pointing to robust construction and manufacturing activity despite reports of material and staff shortages. The latest quarterly survey from the Mineral Products Association (MPA) shows that in recent months the industry has supplied the highest quarterly volumes of materials such as aggregates and asphalt in more than 12 years.

UK Minerals Strategy affirms minerals essential to economy, quality of life and decarbonisation

The UK’s economic recovery and journey to net zero carbon requires essential minerals and mineral products, sourced locally and extracted responsibly. That was one of the key conclusions of the seventh joint CBI and MPA ‘Living with Minerals’ conference (LWM7) last week which stressed the need for more supportive national policy to help to create an environment for investment in UK minerals.
