Responsible, Sustainable, Essential Minerals

It is perhaps easy to overlook the vital importance of essential minerals in everyday life. Examples include the construction aggregates, asphalt, cement and concrete used to build our homes, hospitals and schools together with the transport and energy infrastructure we rely upon. Together with industrial uses such as sand for glass manufacture and lime for water purification and agricultural improvement. Modern society cannot function without essential minerals.

To highlight this, ITN Business has partnered with the Mineral Products Association to produce a digital programme and campaign, ‘Responsible, Sustainable, Essential Minerals’, launching in December 2024. Hosted by broadcast journalist Sharon Thomas, the programme will feature thought leadership and case studies that showcase the sector’s positive work in action. From health and safety to green and technological innovations, we will look at the essential minerals produced in the UK and the products they create, including concrete, which represents the largest human-made material on the planet, along with aggregates, asphalt, cement, dimension stone, lime, mortar and industrial sand.

Responsible, Sustainable, Essential Minerals’, will address themes across the full product lifecycle, from extraction, to production to end-use, together with the role the sector plays in supporting the circular economy, and the role of essential minerals in our journey to net zero.

The programme will be hosted on the ITN Business Content Hub as well as being supported by a digital launch, including a paid marketing campaign.

There are commercial opportunities for leading organisations to be featured in the programme and spearhead their own news item. If your organisation wants to share what you stand for and be part of this important conversation, please contact ITN Business’ Head Programming Director James Linden or Programming Director James Salver.
