Cement Admixtures Association Affiliates With Mineral Products Association

CAA_Logo.jpgThe Cement Admixtures Association (CAA), the trade federation for the main UK admixture manufacturers has become an Affiliate Member of the Mineral Products Association (MPA), which represents the aggregates, asphalt, cement, concrete, dimension stone, lime, mortar and silica sand industries.

The agreement will enable MPA to provide support services to CAA and allow CAA to take a more active role in the vital work of MPA in promoting sustainable concrete and masonry construction, and its broader engagement with industry.

Admixtures are a vital component of durable and sustainable concrete for modern construction, important in improving the properties of concrete, mortar or grout in the plastic and / or hardened state. CAA members are committed to offering the highest standards of product quality and support to their customers and encouraging and facilitating the wider use of admixtures within the building and civil engineering industries.

A founder signatory to the Concrete Industry Sustainable Construction Strategy launched in 2008, CAA and its members are committed to the principles of sustainable and responsible supply of construction and mineral products.

CAA Chairman, Christopher Fletcher said:

“Modern admixture technology uses chemistry as an enabler to deliver innovation and sustainability for the cementitious & concrete producing industries. We believe that affiliation of CAA to MPA is an extremely positive step for both associations, providing closer liaison and a more collaborative environment for the beneficial development of admixture and concrete technology.”

MPA Chief Executive, Nigel Jackson said:

We are delighted to have the CAA and its members as Affiliates of the MPA. We look forward to increasingly close collaboration on our common objectives to improve the sustainability of key mineral products and promoting best practice in concrete and masonry construction.”

About the Mineral Products Association:

The Mineral Products Association (MPA) is the trade association for the aggregates, asphalt, cement, concrete, dimension stone, lime, mortar and silica sand industries. With the affiliation of British Precast, the British Association of Reinforcement (BAR), Eurobitume, MPA Northern Ireland, MPA Scotland and the British Calcium Carbonate Federation, it has a growing membership of 520 companies and is the sectoral voice for mineral products. About the Cement Admixtures Association:

The Cement Admixtures Association (CAA), founded in 1963, is a UK trade association which promotes the most effective use of admixtures in concrete, mortar and grout.

CAA comprises full and associate members companies.

Full members include the major companies involved in the development, manufacture and supply of admixtures in the United Kingdom. Several of these companies also have major overseas involvement in admixtures. A condition of membership is to operate third party certified management systems complying with ISO 9001 Quality and with ISO 14001 Environmental, thus ensuring that CAA members are committed to offering the highest standards of product quality and sustainability and support to their customers.

Associate members include suppliers of raw materials to the full members, suppliers of dispensing equipment and test houses.

CAA is active in work on British and European standards and in the preparation of guidance on the use of admixtures and general concrete technology. Liaison is maintained with key user groups such as the Mineral Products Association and the Concrete Society.

CAA is an active partner within the UK Concrete Industry Sustainable Construction Strategy.

CAA is a member of the European Federation of Concrete Admixtures Associations (EFCA) which represents associations from across Europe.
