Mineral Products Qualifications Council (MPQC)

Young Leader Sponsor

The Mineral Products Qualifications Council (MPQC) was established in 1983 to help develop and maintain industry training needs and was originally known as Quarry Products Training Company Ltd. It is a ‘not for profit’ membership organisation whose member organisations are derived from the quarrying, mineral products, mining, construction and related manufacturing sectors. MPQC members cover a wide breadth of the mineral products industry and range from sole traders to multinational corporations.

MPQC is formed of two divisions; MP Awards and MP Skills. MP Awards is the standards setting body for the sector, leading progressive change by working in collaboration and consultation with industry and training providers to improve safety and consistency of working practices allied to national occupational standards. MP Skills delivers face-to-face and online training,  vocational qualifications and assessments. The two divisions operate independently of one another and are governed and regulated by a range of Government Bodies and Independent Regulators.

In addition, MPQC manages the Minerals Matter programme, leading the sector's drive for succession by increasing awareness of quarrying and mining opportunities to young people via the work of over 100 Ambassadors who engage directly with education settings throughout the UK.

MP Connect

Outstanding Contractor Sponsor

MP Connect is another MPQC initiative for businesses, deploying smartcard and app technology to record and monitor drivers and contractors entering sites, confirming their qualifications are appropriate in order to be able to work safely in potentially hazardous spaces.

As JCB continues to constantly push the boundaries in our desire to be the best, innovation remains at the forefront of our thinking, particularly with our road to zero journey.
