Almost two years into the current parliament, Government's focus remains the delivery of 1.5 million homes in the life of the Parliament. Economic growth and mineral production figures suggest such aspirations may be unachievable. The Government’s planning reforms are now enacted into primary legislation in the Planning and Infrastructure Act which it is hoped will speed up delivery in the planning process. Planned changes to the National Planning Policy Framework and Local Government Reform are inevitably centred on housing delivery, yet the needs of the construction material supply chain that will ultimately provide the foundation for economic growth appear to have been largely disregarded.

The 2026 Minerals Planning Conference will offer a valuable opportunity to explore and discuss some of the most pressing issues facing the minerals industry and the minerals planning profession today. The event will address ongoing challenges such as the collation and use of up-to-date information, meeting future demand for and supply of materials needed for major infrastructure projects, and the practical application of new legislation. Attendees will also benefit from a legal update on the implications of recent cases.

This full-day event will be held in London, on 16th June and available to join online if you are unable to attend in person. Prices for attending are £170 (plus VAT) for in-person and £80 (plus VAT) for online participation.

This annual conference is a must attend event for anyone with minerals planning in their remit and it is delivered jointly by the RTPI and the Mineral Products Association.
