Phil Harding is Farms and Restoration Manager with the Canterbury-based Brett Group and has been with the company for some 24 years. Recruited initially to look after the company’s extensive land holdings, he quickly became involved in the restoration of its sand and gravel workings.
It came at a time when the company was building a strong reputation for the sheer quality of its restoration and Phil worked tirelessly to advance the cause. More often than not, restoration meant enhancing biodiversity and he brought a number of imaginative new ideas into play.
His individual efforts have helped to deliver a long list of first class restoration and biodiversity projects and with it a continuous stream of awards which demonstrate an independent company punching above it weight.
It is in no small part due to Phil that Brett has won the MPA’s prestigious Cooper-Heyman Cup for top class restoration on no fewer than five occasions in his time with the company. Of particular note is the company’s Church Lammas site in Surrey which broke new ground for the industry in terms of shaping restoration for enjoyment by people with disabilities.
